Our curriculum in Social Studies reflects four units of the study of Ancient Civilizations, Citizenship Awareness and ongoing critiques of Current Events. In the study of Ancient Civilizations, students analyze the culture of early Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. Each unit of Ancient Civilizations incorporates a wide range of map skills to enhance the understanding of the geographical impact within each culture. Our objectives for the students this year are:

 

 

 

  • Understand the characteristics of early civilizations.
  • Describe the evolution of four major early civilizations.
    Identify major Judeo, Greco and Roman contributions to Western Civilization.
  • Recognize the impact of geography in the development of Western Civilization.
  • Analyze democratic behaviors of Ancient Civilizations and incorporate democratic philosophies into the classroom.
  • Summarize current events that focus on foreign affairs.
